We've Been There Australian Caravanning Family Feature

The expression "weekend warriors" comes to mind when describing the family behind We've Been ThereBut this family of adventure seekers goes beyond this simple moniker. They're weekend conquerors! Making the most of their off hours and creating as many memories as you can pack into a couple days is just what they do. We’ll let them take it from here!

Tell us about yourself. Why'd you choose this lifestyle? How long have you been at it?

We've Been There are a family of five Chris, Amanda & our 3 teenage sons. We live in a small rural town on the Western Downs, QLD. Our family are outdoor enthusiasts, who's passion is any type of recreational activity, caravan/camping/traveling, motorbike riding, jet skiing, hiking and fishing. We class ourselves as part time travelers, as the past 15 years of caravanning has consisted of mostly weekend and school holidays, due to work commitments with our Manufacturing Business. When our first son was born nearly 20 years ago, we transitioned to the caravanning lifestyle because of the cheaper alternative that it offers. We also love this lifestyle because of the beautiful destinations we are able to visit and the interesting people we meet along the way. Our boys have grown up enjoying our caravan holidays & road trips away in the van & even though they are all much older now, they still enjoy it as much today as they did when they were younger. We hope that this lifestyle is something that our boys can hopefully enjoy with their own children in the future.

We've Been there Family

Any plans for the near/distant future?

Our immediate plans are to continue short term travels until our sons are fully established. Our eldest son has recently bought his first home and moved on with his life. Both the eldest boys have full time apprenticeships, so this now only leaves our youngest to finish off his senior schooling years.

The dream has always been to travel full time there after. In the past we've concentrated mainly on exploring QLD and NSW. To the future we look forward to discovering the many hidden wonders that wider Australia has to offer.

Supreme Executive Caravan

Tell us about your rig?

Our rig consists of a semi off road 22.6ft Supreme Executive 2021 caravan, towed by the king of the road, a Toyota 200 series Landcruiser. This is our 8th caravan, but our first layout with no bunks as our growing boys prefer to swag it now (when they actually come these days).

We chose this layout as it has a centrally positioned full ensuite, with separate bedroom area and a large rear entry club lounge that can also be made into a double bed. Great for quick overnight stops for the boys.

It's also kitted out with solar, batteries, fresh & grey water tanks making it perfect for off grid camping.

Sirocco Fans onboard

Which products of ours do you have onboard? How's it working for you?

We have Sirocco II fans fitted to the bedroom area, which are perfect during our off grid summer camping. We've also had the Sirocco II fans fitted in previous caravans and love the quiet operation and the low battery draw. They are compact, easy to clean, stylish, easy to install and offer 3 speed levels. We would highly recommend Sirocco II fans for every caravan.
